PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS IN DELHI IN SOUP

A section of public sector banks in Delhi - specially Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) - are in a soup since April 1, 2008, due to failure of their computer systems. Their officials said that all the data fed in the computers just disappears and the poor souls are working overtime to cater to their clients. The bank is connected to Chennai head office and the link keeps breaking ever since March 31 and April 1 being a bank holiday to tally annual accounts the situation is really murky, especially for the Government pensioners, who get paid by these banks.
The clients claim that the IOB ATM at Gole Market hardly works, if ever, and they have to use other banks' ATMs at a premium.
But the officials assured the things would be normal by Thursday, April 3.
